Book a hui at Arowhenua Marae

Bookings require at least 7 working days notice and may not be made more than 10 months in advance. Arowhenua Rūnanga reserve the right to cancel a booking if there is a tangi.

A non refundable booking fee/bond of $250.00 is required to secure your booking. Once paid, please email arowhenua.admin@ngaitahu.iwi.nz and you will receive a confirmation of booking within 24 hours or the following business day.

Commercial/Government/Private

Overnight charge (mattress and mattress protector hire and cleaning) - $15 pp Max 80 people overnight.

Self-catering $180 per night

Booking Fee/ Bond (non refundable for cancellations) $250 bond will be used for damages etc.

Pōwhiri $180

Activity facilitators $90.00 per hour.

Facilitated Cultural activities/team building.

Along with our great hire facility we also offer a range of cultural activities provided by our talented facilitators. These can be used as either cultural education or as team building exercises. We can offer the following range of activities.

Games

  • Mau Rakau- Porowhita ( Stick circle games) + Tikanga (Rules of the game) for kids and adults

  • Tititoria - Small sticks. Games songs and actions

  • Poi History and movement of the long and short poi

  • Harakeke- The uses of the flax, weaving and the Tikanga behind flax weaving :

    Puti puti - Weaving the flowers

    Ika - Weaving the fish

    Book marks

  • Pakipaki - Whai mai. clapping to the beat. Following the beat or rhythm (kids)

  • Basic Reo

  • Waiata a ringa - Action Songs

  • Haka

  • Taonga Pu oro - Wind instruments

  • Maori Rock Art Centre and Rock Art site visit. 3-4 hours
