Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua, and Environment Canterbury invite you to a
Community planting day at
Awarua Wetland
9-1pm
Saturday 5th Nov
The Awarua wetland restoration is part of an ongoing project by Arowhenua to restore the natural flax-pukio wetland opposite the Marae.
The Environment Canterbury Tuia and IMS programmes are supporting Arowhenua in this project allocated by the Orari-Opihi-Pareora Zone Committee.
This is a great opportunity to speak with rūnanga about their plans for the site. The restoration of Awarua wetland is aiming to protect mahinga kai values as well as promote education opportunities around traditional harvest and rongoa.
