At the first ray of light from the sun hitting the horizon, the karakia will start. The Kaikarakia will stop at the door and ask the question of the hau kaika the name of the house etc. It is then that a puhi will step into the whare first with the Kaikarakia followed by the hau kaika to continue on with the karakia in the whare.
