Te Rūnanga O Arowhenua thank the
Community Trust of Mid & South Canterbury
for its generous donation of $75,000
In 2016 the Community Trust of Mid & South Canterbury made a $75,000 donation to Te Rūnanga O Arowhenua for a variety of new furnishings, including projectors, for the marae.
The new items have complemented the new-look marae - which underwent a 3.2 million rebuild in 2016.
The rebuild of the marae ensures it will continue to be the focal point for whānau, hapū and iwi in the region for years to come.
Community Trust chairman Peter O’Leary said “The donation recognises the important role Te Rūnanga O Arowhenua has in educating the wider community about Tikanga Māori, fostering cultural skills and engaging with Government agencies, school children and corporates to ensure that the views of the tangata whenua are understood and heard”.
